Born in Richmond rural of KwaZulu Natal, Luthando went to Silwanetshe primary, Willowfountain secondary school, and Ikusaselihle High school where he matriculated in 2009. He started tertiary education at Durban University of Technology where he obtained a degree in Environmental Health. In 2018, he obtained a postgraduate diploma in Public Health at the University of KwaZulu Natal.
Luthando is currently a Public Engagement Officer at the Africa Health Research Institute (AHRI).
